Senior Technology Education & Personal Support

STEPS — patient, personal technology support.

Friendly one-to-one help for seniors using phones, tablets and computers. Every STEPS session is prepared around your device, the problems you are experiencing and what you would like to learn.

Appointments are required so we can prepare personalised support before you arrive.

Bring the device and charger. A family member or support person may help arrange the appointment.

How STEPS works

Support prepared around you.

Sometimes you do not need a repair — you simply need someone patient to sit with you and work through technology together.

Before your appointment

We can ask about your device make and model, the problems you are experiencing, accessibility requirements and the topics you would like to learn.

During the session

We work at your pace, allow time to practise and encourage questions. The focus is on the tasks that matter to you.

After the session

Easy-to-follow home notes can be provided where appropriate, so you have a simple reminder of the steps we worked through.

Family and support people

A family member or support person may help arrange the appointment or attend with you, while the device owner’s privacy remains important.

What we can work through

Everyday technology, explained clearly.

Sessions are tailored. The list below is a guide rather than a promise that every issue can be resolved in one visit.

Getting started

  • Setting up a new phone, tablet or computer
  • Moving contacts, photos and data
  • Using apps, email and video calls

Making it easier to use

  • Text size, display, sound and built-in accessibility settings
  • Organising contacts, apps and settings
  • Learning useful everyday features

Staying safer

  • Recognising suspicious messages and common scams
  • Understanding updates, backups and device security basics
  • Practical next steps for unusual pop-ups or apps

Managing your device

  • Understanding passwords and account access
  • Preparing a replacement-device changeover
  • Knowing when a repair assessment is more suitable

Privacy and appointments

Clear boundaries for safer support.

STEPS is a booked, personalised support service rather than a walk-in repair service.

Do I need an appointment?

Yes. Appointments are required so iWorkshop can understand your device, needs and learning goals before the session.

Can I bring someone with me?

Yes. A family member, carer or support person may help arrange the appointment or attend with you.

Will iWorkshop keep my passwords?

No. For your security, iWorkshop does not retain passwords, PINs, payment details or authentication codes. Where sensitive information is needed, customers should enter it themselves whenever practical.

Can STEPS include a device repair?

If a repair is needed, we can explain the assessment and quote process separately. You approve paid repair work before it begins.
